An IDC Candidate's Tale
Say Hello to Taryn, one of Jilly’s success
stories from the IDCs she has overseen as a Course Director.
The youngest IDC candidate Jilly has ever
taught (many people often thought Taryn was Jilly’s daughter), Taryn is only 24
and now runs a dive centre in her native South Africa and is preparing to take
the Course Director training next year.
Only 18 when she started her journey, Taryn
completed a 3-month internship of a divemaster and OWSI under Jilly’s
supervision. In Taryn’s own words:
“I
found the internship very knowledgeable and easy to follow with Jilly's
coaching and help. Her quality of training and experience made me the
instructor I am today. Her patience and dedication to teaching and improving me
is something I will always be thankful for.”
I’ve worked in
multiple dive centers all over the world and I’m currently an IDC staff
instructor looking to do my Course Director Course soon. I am now the manager
of Into The Blue Dive Center one of the best
dive centers in Cape Town, South Africa.
I couldn’t have done it without Jilly and would choose no one else to have taught me. Anyone who gets the opportunity to learn from such a course director will turn out to do amazing things and excel in the diving industry. “
If you ever
find yourself in South Africa make sure to pop by and say hi to Taryn from all
at Circle (especially scuba “mommy” Jilly.)
