Celebrating PADI International Women's Diver Day: Empowering Women Beneath the Waves

Happy PADI International Women's Diver Day to all the women in our circle of divers, including guests, instructors, dive centre managers, and Course Director.!

PADI International Women's Diver Day was first celebrated in 2015, as an initiative to encourage more women to participate in scuba diving and celebrate the contributions of women divers worldwide. The day was envisioned as a way to address the gender gap in the diving community, where traditionally, men have outnumbered women. By creating a dedicated day for women divers, PADI aimed to foster a sense of inclusivity and to highlight the important roles that women play in the diving world.

This celebration not only acknowledges the remarkable women divers but also aims to inspire future generations to embrace the ocean and its wonders. Did you know women only account for less than a third (30.7% according to latest PADI stats) of all scuba divers worldwide?

When it comes to PADI Professionals that figure drops even lower to only 20% and for Course Directors only 15%. But it's not all bad news, latest stats from DAN Insurance suggest over 40% of new divers are women and the number of female instructors is also increasing.

We are very proud at Circle Divers to have one of the female CDs who make up that 15% in our circle. Jilly has been a PADI Professional in Sharm El Sheikh for over 25 years now - there's not much she doesn't know about the Red Sea and diving in Sharm! Jilly's strict adherence to PADI standards and safety regulations is legendary in Sharm. Why not ask her about the next IDC at Circle Divers?

We also have our valued female instructors Anna Maria in Sharm (who also joins the Circle Technical and CCR team), Nardine in Dahab and dive centre co-manager Sabrina and instructor.

As we continue to celebrate PADI International Women's Diver Day each year, it is essential to recognize the ongoing efforts to make the diving community more diverse and inclusive. By encouraging more women to take up diving and by providing them with the support and opportunities they need to succeed, we can ensure that the underwater world remains accessible and inspiring for all

HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES....WE HOPE YOU SPENT IT UNDERWATER SOMEWHERE!
