What does the PADI Drift Diver course cover?

The PADI Drift Diver course consists of two main parts: knowledge development and practical application.
During the knowledge development phase, you'll study the principles and techniques of drift diving through self-paced eLearning modules, videos, and quizzes.
You'll learn how to plan and execute a drift dive, how to select and use specialized equipment such as surface marker buoys and drift lines, and how to handle emergency situations while diving in currents.

The practical application phase includes two open water dives with a PADI-certified instructor.
You'll put into practice what you've learned during the knowledge development phase, and demonstrate your ability to maintain proper buoyancy, control, and communication while drifting along the dive site. You'll also get to explore the unique underwater environment created by the current and observe marine life that thrives in these conditions.

Who can take the PADI Drift Diver course?

The PADI Drift Diver course is open to certified Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old and have completed the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course (or equivalent).
It's also recommended that you have recent diving experience and are in good physical health.
